CRR/FTR Analyst in ERCOT and PJM
Active Power Investments LLC (“API”) is a financial market participant in North American Independent System Operator (“ISO”) wholesale electric power markets, generally acting as a liquidity provider. API is engaged in a variety of tasks in electric power trading, market analysis, trading tools development, risk management and controls. API is seeking candidates interested in a career in the field of Electric Power Markets.
CRR/FTR Analyst opportunities at API:
Specific responsibilities of this position include:
- Carrying out ISO market research in ERCOT and PJM using power flow analysis software
- Identifying and elucidating potential constraints of interest as trading opportunities in various forward CRR/FTR auctions (ERCOT and PJM)
- Assisting with the understanding of important actual daily congestion events
- Collecting and processing long term new unit additions, unit retirements, and transmission upgrades in the ERCOT and PJM markets
- Maintaining and executing power flow modeling software DAYZER and reviewing its output to calibrate the model and identify future transmission congestion patterns
- Attend and summarize ERCOT and PJM periodic congestion and transmission related meetings to keep track of critical future system changes

You should have:
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently with multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Ability to perform fundamental analysis of North American wholesale nodal power markets
- Educational and/or professional background in power systems engineering and economics
- Experience working with power flow modeling software DAYZER
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to timely convey to traders the key findings of your research
You also may have:
- Programming experience in Python, VBScript, SQL, R
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred), Financial Engineering, Mathematical, Computational, or Analytical Finance, or other quantitative discipline
- Direct experience with ISO markets
- A working knowledge of ERCOT and/or PJM market
